Tuhina Akhtar wants to live longer
Tuhina Akhter (22), daughter of late Md. Gura Miya and Fariza Khatun lives in Patabari, Ukhiya, Cox’s Bazar with her mother, two brothers and two sisters. Until 2014, their family was going well, the family would go well with what their father used to earn. But their father’s death left them helpless. In addition to her father’s death, Tuhina’s condition worsened day by day. She is currently suffering from terminal thalassemia. She has to change the blood of his body every two months. On the other hand, all the responsibilities of the family fell on her shoulders and on the other hand, Tuhina’s illness, all together; the family became a house of misery. Seeing this condition of their family, her elder brother got married and separated. Then there was no end to the misery. Tuhina’s mother started working in someone else’s house to run Tuhina’s family. It shocked Tuhina but Tuhina had nothing to do, she was sick and helpless. Even then, Tuhina thought she had to do something for her family and for herself, as it cost her lot of money every month for her treatment. When she later found out that Uttaran had arranged free technical training for young girls, he decided that she would take the training from here and use it to provide family and better treatment. She was later admitted to a three-month beauty care course, which she has already successfully completed for two months. Now her dream is to set up a beauty parlor after completing this training. However, he noted that this is possible if Uttaran and UNDP cooperate overall.
